I was in group 2 and I presented chapter 9. All of my peers in my group did an outstanding job presenting.Watching group 1’s presentation really gave me a general idea of how the layout would be and motivated me to do just as good of a job as them. Seeing how comfortable and confident they were when speaking helped me a lot and I realized I have no reason to be nervous.I really enjoyed all of my classmates presentations. They all put plenty of effort and all of them came out very organized with clear concise ideas. Group 1’s presentation on chapter 3 was very informational and I learned a lot about culture and communications within culture.Ashley did amazing presenting the idea of cultures. Culture is a group of people's collective deposit of information, experience, beliefs, values, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies, religion, perceptions of time, roles, geographical linkages, and cosmic concepts over the course of generations through individual and community effort is referred to as culture. Javuaghn helped me understand about co-culture,code switching, and cultural identity.I learned that I myself do code switching with my parents at home and anywhere else English.I learned that "Self-concept and self-esteem are influenced by individualism and collectivism. In individualist cultures, people develop separate self-concepts and base their self-esteem on personal success. Collectivist cultures encourage people to develop interconnected self-concepts and rely their self-worth on how well they contribute to a group." I learned about lots of aspects that tie into my personal identity such as being Hispanic and my native language being Spanish and how that affects my everyday life. In my culture we are masculine. Erin helped me understand highly masculine or feminine cultures. Men are assertive and dominant while women are nurturing like it stated in the presentation. I was shown how to be more accepting when facing new cultures and communicating with them and it helped me become more open minded. I enjoyed all the visuals and pictures they used in their PowerPoint and it really helped me understand the points being made. Group 3’s presentation on Group Leadership And Problem Solving was great. I highly enjoyed hearing them all talk and you can tell they read and understood the messages they were conveying. All their points were clear and the PowerPoint itself was very organized. In this presentation I learned about leadership and communication roles in groups. I learned about different types of leaders and different task a member may have in the group. What really interested me were the different types of member roles in groups.I learned the role of analyzers which is the group uses analyzers to carefully examine the arguments made in debates. They could challenge what is being stated and aid group members in recognizing the underlying presuppositions in their assertions. I discovered that the behaviors in the maintenance leadership roles aid in the formation and upkeep of the group's commitment, cohesion, and productive working relationship. I also discovered that interpreters use their understanding of the various social, cultural, and gender orientations of group members to aid in communication. Personally up I’ve been an interpreter many times within different groups. There are five key responsibilities in a group. The first one is to be committed to the group goal. Finding a way to match your expertise with the established objective of the group is a necessary part of being devoted to the group's aim. Being dedicated to the group's objective communicates honesty and respect in addition to acting responsibly. The second responsibility is keeping the discussion on track. Every participant must be accountable for keeping the conversation on topic by contributing only pertinent remarks and gently reminding others to stay on topic when necessary. The third responsibility is to complete individual assignments on time. The fourth responsibility is to encourage input from all members. The last responsibility was to manage conflict among members. Managing conflict has always been important because it’s what keeps group unity. I’ve had to manage conflicts before and after doing so the groups bind ends up coming stronger. I learned that each member plays an important part for a group to work. There are many different takes on cultures and what they’re comfortable with and what they avoid. Polychromic civilizations are those in which time is seen as a continuous flow. Avoiding uncertainty is the degree to which people are interested in making predictions about the future. Low uncertainty-avoidance societies are those that accept risk and have less of a need to control erratic individuals, relationships, or occurrences. Societies with a high need for power control over unexpected people, relationships, or events and a low tolerance for ambiguity. Personally I relate to the Polychronic and high uncertainty avoidance cultures because I grew up multitasking with chores around the house and I always was taught to follow the rules and not hang with the wrong crowd.

I learned about important factors that come into play when meeting other members such as deciding who attends meetings, participation, monitoring time and much more. I learned there is many formats in which a presentation can be presented such as virtually, orally, and written. To effectively deliver a presentation you must seek areas in need of self improvement. I learned about important factors that come into play when meeting other members such as deciding who attends meetings, participation, monitoring time and much more. I learned that to effectively deliver a presentation you must seek areas in need of self improvement. I’ve always sought to better myself orally when presenting as I tend to stutter. I was the group leader for group 2 and it was very fun working with them. I often don’t take on that role but I saw at first most of my group members were shy so I thought I’d step up and help them. Shortly after we were all able to communicate our ideas efficiently and planned everything out quite well. It came out very organized and I’m proud of the overall work me and my group did.
